Independent accountancy practice

Books that stay quiet all year.

Pearl Grove looks after the accounts, tax and payroll of small independent businesses — so the numbers are done early, explained plainly, and never a surprise in January.

What we handle

Four things, done properly

Most clients take the whole set, but each piece stands on its own if you already have part of it covered.

Year-end accounts

Statutory accounts prepared, reviewed with you, and filed well ahead of the deadline.

  • Company and sole trader accounts
  • Companies House filing
  • A plain-English summary

Tax returns

Corporation tax, self assessment and VAT returns, with the bill known months in advance.

  • Allowances checked line by line
  • Payment dates flagged early
  • Correspondence handled for you

Bookkeeping & payroll

Monthly reconciliation and a payroll run that leaves your team paid on the same date each month.

  • Receipts captured as you go
  • Payslips and pension submissions
  • Quarterly VAT ready, not rushed

Advisory

A quarterly conversation about cash, pricing and what the figures are actually telling you.

  • Cash-flow forecasting
  • Owner pay and dividends
  • Planning before you commit

How we work

Three steps, then it runs quietly

Nobody enjoys handing over a shoebox of receipts to a stranger. Here is exactly what the first few weeks look like.

  1. A first conversation

Half an hour on what your business does, where the books are now, and which deadlines are closest. No charge, no obligation.

  2. A written proposal

You get a fixed monthly fee, a list of exactly what is included, and the dates we will need things by. If it does not suit, nothing happens.

  3. We take it from there

We handle the handover from any previous accountant, set up the software, and from then on you hear from us before a deadline, not after.

The practice

Small on purpose

Pearl Grove was set up to do the opposite of what most people expect from an accountant: answer the email, explain the figure, and get the work done in October rather than the week before it is due.

We deliberately keep the client list short. That means the person who prepares your accounts is the same person you speak to, and they already know why last quarter looked the way it did.

  • One named accountant for your business, not a shared inbox.
  • Fees agreed in writing up front — no charge for asking a question.
  • Meetings in person or online, whichever suits how you work.

Questions

Before you get in touch

I already have an accountant — is switching a hassle?

Not for you. We write to your current accountant, request the handover records and pick up from where they left off. Most moves are finished inside a fortnight and you only need to confirm you are happy for us to ask.

What happens if a deadline is already close?

Say so in your enquiry. We will tell you honestly whether it can be done properly in the time available, and if it cannot, what the realistic options are. We would rather turn work away than file something we have not checked.

Which bookkeeping software do you use?

We work with the main cloud packages and will happily keep you on whatever you already use. If you are starting fresh, we will set something up and show you the three or four things you actually need to do each week.

How are fees worked out?

A fixed monthly amount based on the work in your proposal — turnover, number of transactions, payroll size and whether VAT applies. It does not change mid-year unless the business itself changes, and we tell you before it does.

Do we have to meet in person?

Only if you want to. Plenty of clients are entirely remote and send documents digitally. Others prefer sitting down together once a year for the accounts review — both work equally well.
